Colorful, Versatile, and Highly Coveted

Rolex unveiled the first Oyster Perpetual over 90 years ago. This sporty, elegant model joins the legendary Submariner and Day-Date as one of the all-time classics in the Rolex lineup.

Up until the release of the Oyster Perpetual 41 (ref. 124300) in 2020, this model was only available in case sizes between 26 and 39 mm. As the name suggests, this newer release measures 41 mm in diameter, and is therefore a fantastic choice for sizeable wrists.

Rolex took the market by surprise with the extensive color pallet for the Oyster Perpetual 41. In addition to classic dial colors such as black, silver, and blue, the model is also available in yellow, coral red, orange, green, and turquoise (or Tiffany dial). The manufacturer thus revived, to some degree, the bright lacquered Stella dials, which are seen on Day-Date models from the early 1970s.

Oyster Perpetual 41 models are highly coveted, and in true Rolex fashion, are hard to come by at authorized dealers. As a result, some of these larger models have appreciated greatly in value. Not only that, but Rolex has since stopped producing the more unconventional dial colors, which has pushed prices on the secondary market to new heights.

How much does an Oyster Perpetual 41 cost?

The most affordable Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 models are those with black, silver, or dark blue sunburst dials and require an investment between around 10,000 and 11,000 USD. If you're interested in a bright, colorful dial, expect prices to rise significantly. The version with the green dial has the lightest price tag: you should still be able to find these timepieces for under 14,000 USD. The turquoise dial demands closer to 18,500 USD, while the models with the yellow or red dial change hands for around 20,500 USD.

About the Oyster Perpetual 41

All Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 models feature a stainless steel Oyster case, which of course measures 41 mm across. Rolex exclusively uses Oystersteel for their steel watches, a 904L stainless steel that promises, among other things, an exceptional finish and maximum resistance to corrosion.

Rolex pairs the watch with their popular Oyster bracelet, which has been in production since 1930. This three-piece link bracelet is outfitted with a folding Oysterclasp.

The Oyster Perpetual 41 is powered by 2020's in-house caliber 3230. This movement is chronometer-certified, has a power reserve of 70 hours, and boasts Rolex's patented Chronergy escapement.

Further Development of the Oyster Perpetual 41

All Rolex Oyster Perpetual 41 timepieces have increased in value since their launch in September 2020. Upon release, all colorful versions were listed for 5,900 USD, although Rolex raised the price to 6,150 USD just two years later. Since it's virtually impossible to buy one of these watches from an offline dealer, prices on the secondary market are steep. This is especially true for the red, turquoise, and yellow dials, as they have already been discontinued.

At the time of writing in September 2022, Rolex was still producing the Oyster Perpetual 41 with black, silver, dark blue, and green dials. While prices for models with a black, silver, or dark blue dial on Chrono24 just about break 10,000 USD, you will need to invest around 13,500 USD in the green dial version. Considering that the former versions were selling for around 7,000 USD as recently as September 2020, these watches have appreciated by 43% in that short time. The green model changed hands for roughly 8,200 USD at the end of 2020, which corresponds to a value increase of 63% within two years.

The turquoise model recorded the strongest financial performance between September 2020 and September 2022, appreciating by a staggering 149%. While prices came in at around 7,200 USD in late 2020, you'll now have to reckon with an investment of roughly 18,500 USD for this version.

The yellow and coral red versions demand the highest prices. Although they "only" appreciated by 144%, they still top the price list at roughly 20,500 USD apiece. All price developments above refer to models in mint condition.
