Description

Patek Philippe 5396G-011 Annual Calendar Moonphase with 24-Hour Display, 18kt White Gold, Silvery Opaline "Opalin Argente Index Obus" Dial with applied white gold baton hour index markers, a dot perimeter minute scale, and gold feuille hands with a gold center sweep seconds hand. It has twin square aperture windows for the day and month at 12 o'clock, with a combination moonphase and radial date scale at 6 o'clock. The moon phase display and the date aperture are at 6 o'clock. Sapphire crystal transparent exhibition case back. Fitted on a black alligator leather strap with an 18kt White Gold fold-over deployant buckle with a Patek Philippe Calatrava Crest. 38.5mm

This Patek Philippe Calatrava Annual Calendar 5396G is equipped with a mechanical Patek Philippe automatic self-winding caliber 324 S QA LU 24H movement that's rhodium-plated with fausses cotes embellishment, with the Patek Philippe quality hallmark. It's constructed with 34 jewels, a straight-line lever escapement, and the patented Gyromax balance that adjusts for cold, heat, isochronism, and for five positions. It has a shock absorber, a 21K gold rotor, and a self-compensating flat balance spring. The mechanism oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4 Hz). Patek Philippe designed this case after its famous Calatrava reference 96 from 1932. The new annual calendar mechanism actually compensates for the various lengths of each month from March 1 to the end of February, necessitating only one adjustment a year.

A tribute to the 20th anniversary of Patek Philippe's patented Annual Calendar the Ref. 5396, featuring a double inline window for the day and month, and date at 6 o'clock, is presented in white gold with a silver opaline dial.

One of the greatest successes of the Geneva manufacture, the 5396G-011 manages to look classic and contemporary at the same time. An easy-to-read and easy-to-use complication with a discreet charm.

The moonphase complication is not just a feature on a timepiece; it is a poetic nod to the celestial dance between the Earth and its luminous satellite. This elegant mechanism transcends mere timekeeping, offering a window to the cosmos on your wrist. It captures the everlasting cycle of the moon as it waxes and wanes, from a slender crescent to a glowing full moon and back, mirroring the celestial rhythm that has guided humanity through time.

This complication is a marvel of horological artistry, blending technical prowess with an almost romantic allure. Watching the moon's progression across the dial is a reminder of the natural beauty that unfolds above us every night, a spectacle that has inspired poets, artists, and dreamers throughout history. The moonphase display brings this heavenly spectacle down to a human scale, allowing its wearer to carry a piece of the infinite with them.

In the context of a watch, the moonphase complication symbolizes the bond between time and the cosmos. It serves as a daily reminder of the universe's vastness and the beauty of its orderly chaos. To wear a watch with a moonphase complication is to carry a piece of celestial harmony with you, a constant connection to the wider universe and its timeless elegance.
