Hanhart 417 es - The return of a legend
The reissue of our Hanhart 417 es marks the return of a wristwatch legend. Over 60 years ago, its historic model served as the first pilot's chronograph for the German armed forces. Today, it combines the best design in history with the most modern production techniques of our time. The result: a robust chronograph with an exciting history for everyday life and adventure.

the legendary 417
Sturdiness, reliability and legibility: these were the three criteria on which Hanhart built the first pilot's chronograph for the German armed forces back in the mid-1950s. The 417 was designed for uncompromising use on pilots' wrists. Hanhart supplied this chronograph to the German armed forces for almost ten years, until the brand concentrated on manufacturing manual chronometers in 1963. The few remaining pieces of the original 417 have become some of Germany's most sought-after vintage chronographs.
With the new Hanhart 417 es, we celebrate the return of this legendary chronograph.

tradition in detail
The 417 es is a piece of Hanhart's living tradition. Its fluted bezel turns smoothly in both directions and its red position markers recall the original from the 1950s. The numbers and letters on the dial in the characteristic bicompax layout and the symmetrical arrangement of the buttons have also been taken from the historic model.

hand-wound caliber
Like the historic model, the 417 es features a manual-winding caliber. The range of action of the historic 417 model was severely limited outside the cockpit due to its poor water-resistance. That's why our new 417 es can withstand the pressure of depth up to 10 bars.

precision caliber
Behind the screw-down stainless steel caseback of the 417 es, the reliable sw 510 m hand-wound caliber works in the highest Swiss Made quality. In addition to a stop-second function, it offers a power reserve of up to 58 hours when fully wound.

CASE BACK
The deliberately simple, screw-down case back is decorated with the historic Hanhart logo and the serial number engraved on the side.

Contemporary size, maximum wearing comfort
Our aim was to design the 417 es as slim as possible, so that it would fit snugly on the wrist without being over-proportioned. Despite the strongly domed sapphire crystal, the case is only 13.3 mm thick. Its crown bears our historic Hanhart logo.
