The present watch Ref: 5070J-001 is part of the 5070 series that was launched in 1998 and discontinued in 2010. Patek produced less than 1,000 pieces across a production life cycle spanning almost 12 years, making this a pretty rare reference.

The overall aesthetic has a certain vintage flair, based on Patek’s unique 1940s-aviators split second watch Ref: 2512, but with modern proportions.

The 18K yellow gold case measures 42mm in diameter and is 11.6mm thick. It features a double-stepped bezel, beautifully polished and welded lugs with beveled edges
The dial features a vintage gilt-style golden tone print on a matte black base, displaying the hours, minutes and the chronograph functions.

On the inside is the manual wound Lemania-Ebauche powered chronograph movement. The legendary movement is heavily modified by Patek Philippe and spectacularly finished to the highest standards, featuring the Poinçon de Genève. One can admire not only the finish, but also the mechanical beauty of the large gyromax balance and all the components of the chronograph. That’s the beauty of the lateral clutch, which exposes almost all the elements.

This highly desirable piece of Patek’s heritage is offered on a black handstitched leather strap with filigree Calatrava deployant clasp in 18K yellow gold.
